The original loom was invented by Marshall Lloyd in 1917. This revolutionized the furniture industry in regards to wicker. Since wicker could be made on the loom, it meant that wicker could be produced a lot faster than the traditional methods of weaving the pieces together.
Loom wicker strands are spun tighter for a more elegant look, smoother feel, better finish, and longer lasting wicker. The wicker strands are reinforced every 3/4" with aluminum or stainless steel cores for added strength and resilience.
After the weaving process, the wicker is dipped in a resin emulsion to form a flexible coating for moisture resistance. Like other wickers, loom wicker also allows for natural cooling. The open weave does not retain heat.
